Bass Pro Shops-Mesa Arizona
I wanted to thank Gary Senft and Matt Shura of the Arizona Nitro Team for allowing me to attend and discuss our Fishclipper fishing safety clip to all that attended the Nitro Pro Fishing Teams Monthly Bass Fishing Seminar on May 8, 2012. Nearly everyone there was familiar with our product and they even got a special sneak peak at our new patterns that will be on our website shortly. As the new patterns were passed around I could sense a couple that are going to be popular!
If you haven't attended your local Bass Pro for fishing seminars check them out. They are full of current information from what types of bait are working at your local lake, tips & tricks to rigging and even some boat maintenance. The Mesa Pro Shop has guest Fishing Pros that talk about winning tournaments and even tell a few secrets from time to time. It's amazing how popular fishing is to bring a group of strangers together in one room all to absorb information on how to become a better angler. It's all about getting out to your local lake, spending time on the water and a boat always helps. Take a kid fishing and keep the dream alive...

Fishclippers Non-boater / Co-angler / Back seater tip #4

Etiquette during a tournament:
1. The most important thing is to have a good attitude and lots of confidence when fishing.
2. Know the area designated for you to cast from on the boat. Never cast towards the front or over their line. Your in the BACK and the middle of the boat on both sides is an imaginary line not to cross. Discuss this with the boater they may be willing to allow you full range on the boat.
3. The boater usually has the best and first casting opportunities. He has the right to allow or not allow good opportunities for you to fish, be patient.
4. If there are rules for sharing trolling time then discuss that prior to launching or if you choose not to operate the trolling motor tell them.
5. If your boater shares with you a secret spot don't return the next day or tell others, return the favor and keep it to yourself.
6. Regardless of how your boater treated you as a non-boater, never say anything bad about them to other anglers in the tournament. It will only make you look bad so be respectful, trustworthy and fair.
Hopefully by the days end regardless of how many fish you caught or didn't catch, you met a new angling friend and maybe learned a thing or two and you can look back and say it was a great day of fishing!
Always remember "A bad day fishing is better than a good day working!"

C.A.S.T. for Kids - Lake Pleasant Arizona - April 2012
There were many smiles at the first CAST for Kids event for 2012 in Arizona. There had to have been at least 40 kids attending and twice as many volunteers at this year's event. Our company donated 40 custom fishclippers and also assisted Don McDowell of Shake Rattle and Troll Radio on taking a child fishing. One of his sponsors Bill Luke Dodge donated the use his pontoon boat for this year's event. The weather was overcast and windy in the morning but that is typical at Lake Pleasant and calmed down by lunch time.
There were plenty of fish bedding and we managed to get into a quite cove on a bed where our fisherman Matthew had the opportunity to catch 2 bass that were released after a photo opportunity. He was full of smiles and really enjoyed the wind blowing in his face when the boat was full throttle. Each year we look forward to assisting the CAST for Kids foundation events as much as possible and applaud the efforts of all the volunteers and companies that donate their time and products for this event.

For more information to see how you can get involved in the Arizona events or in your state go to there website and get involved!
The experience will last a lifetime! http://www.castforkids.org/

Bill Luke Big Bass Days 2012
Lake Pleasant Arizona

I had the opportunity to meet with the folks at the Lobina Lures booth and check out some products. One in particular is the Westys worm. I've read articles about this brand of worms with the weighted head from years past and decided it was time to put it in my arsenal of tackle and give it a try. I purchased some integrated westys 1/4 oz and the 1/4 oz red double hook worms.

I also picked up the Rio Rico traditional with the red hooks which Carl the sales rep insisted I give a try. It was one of his personal favorites and it looks real cool. I can't wait to throw it at my next tournament.

I also was curious how the Fishclipper would secure the westys worm? I knew that the Rico lure fit in the Fishclipper but wasn't sure how a double hook worm would.
As you can see it fits snugly within the clipper totally enclosing the worm and both hooks on the fishing rod. Another type of tackle that can be used to secure loose hooks in our fishing safety clip.
till next time..

Fishclippers Non-boater / Co-Angler / Back seater tips #3

Co-Angler Tip number 3:
Etiquette while in your boater’s boat.
1. Remember you’re a guest and you need to show respect.
2. Always ask to assist where needed.
3. The boater should have set aside a spot for your gear. Hopefully you didn't bring the kitchen sink along with you.
4. Your gear is your responsibility and secure it properly.
5. If you can back up a trailer offer but if you don’t know how to do it DON’T. That will get your day started off on the wrong foot.
6. Be clean and organized, don’t make a mess.
7. When you arrive at your fishing spot and the engine shuts off, discuss the plan of attack and be patient before casting your line.
9. When its time to go to another fishing spot, reel your line in quickly, secure your rods and tackle, secure your life jacket and sit down.
10. At the end of the day offer to clean up the boat, secure items, wipe down the boat if necessary, pay and thank your boater even if you didn’t have a great time.

Important Information:
1. Keep the live well lid shut at all times. Fish will jump out when they see sun light and your boater won't be happy if this happens.
2. Be prepared with the correct tackle for the fishing conditions.
3. Learn from your boater and observe their techniques while fishing. Ask questions only if you feel it’s the right time.
4. Let the boater know your abilities and skill level prior to launching.
5. Know your knots and how to tie them even in the darkest of conditions.
6. Know what’s the best knot for braid line.
7. If you purchase a new rig try and break it in prior to the tournament and not the day of.
8. Purchase Bobber stops, they are a necessity!
9. If you don’t know how to flip, practice, practice practice…

Fishclippers Non-boater / Co-Angler / Back seater tips #2

Since I consider myself an amateur or beginner when it comes to fishing in the Bass Tournaments for money and prizes as a non-boater, I'm going to add items to my blog that I feel are important as I learn the roaps from anglers with the knowledge and experience from years of fishing:
Tip number 2:
What gear to bring
1. One tackle box or soft bag and make sure to bring a variety of stuff.
2. A minimum of 3-5 rods with a variety of actions and line sizes. Check to see how much room is available.
3. Have them pre-rigged with Fishclippers to eliminate hook tangles and injuries to your legs when having the rods close to your legs when your flying down lake. Nothing worse than digging out treble hooks!
4. Proper clothing for the conditions your fishing in.
5. Your own life jacket do not assume the boater will provide one for you as everyone is a different size.
6. Your own food and snacks and extra for them if needed.

photo from http://www.trackerboats.com/ - Get a Tracker Boat today!
7. Your own sunscreen and extra sun glasses in case you loose them. Soap is also good for washing sunscreen off the hands the fish can smell that stuff on bait.
8. If you’re wearing a hat bring an extra one especially if it's hot. Make sure you take it off when blowing across the lake, don’t rely on putting it on backwards you’ll lose it! Most likely your boater won’t go back for it (hasn't happened to me yet)..
9. Extra towel for many uses.
10. Money for the boater depending on what you agreed upon prior to launching and extra cash for whatever might come up like paying someone for a boat tow, paying up on a bet etc..
Fishcliper Blog Tip: What do you do when Mother Nature calls? Ask your boater before you do the duty for many obvious reasons. For the women anglers I'm not sure.. but the majority of women I know have bionic bladders and can probably hold it thru an entire tournament!

As you can see they have quite the showing and have been in business for over 15 years. They have a great selection of fishing tackle products to choose from for all types of fishing. The Fishclipper display is to the right and behind some fishing rods. You can see the yellow Johnny Johnson jersey and the word "clip" that would be our display with the rod holder, fishing rod and fishclipper.
